Extensions are the actual format of any file in computer by which we & Computer itself recognize it, if you have Ms- Word file and file name is office, then at the end of file, it will have be office.docx it means its Ms-Word file. Documents file may have also .pdf extension as well.

extensions of MS-Excel file is .xlsx, MP4 is for video files, MP3 is for audio files, MS Powerpoint extension is pptx, exe is extension of executable file.
